Scholastics:
Kaylene “Lena” Olson graduated from Portland State University with honors with a BS of General Science in 2006. She continued her studies at Pacific University, earning her Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) in 2010.
Credentials:
Lena holds certifications in Kinesio taping, IASTYM, and is FCE (Functional Capacity Evaluator) Certified. She enjoys taking a wide variety of Continuing Education courses, always in response to current patient needs.
Experience:
Lena began her PT career in occupational medicine providing a strong foundation in body mechanics, ergonomics, and development of prevention programs. She continued her love of orthopedics in a postoperative setting allowing for exposure to a myriad of pre-and postop diagnoses before joining WBHPT.
Lena’s treatment style involves a heavy dose of education to assure that patients develop the self-management skills necessary for condition management through education on body mechanics, ergonomics, and realistic load tolerance. The relationship between pathology and injury are continuously discussed to allow for appropriate activity exposure and timely healing.
While she enjoys orthopedics as a whole, she has advanced skill in foot and ankle pathology, a special interest in geriatrics, and has recently shifted her focus to Pelvic Health after discovering a high rate of success with pelvic floor integration with patients with low back and hip pathology.
Hobbies
Lena’s hobbies include kickboxing, organizing, chasing her kids and husband, home renovation, and attempting to train a pug puppy.
